The Artic­le 29 Working Par­ty issued an opi­ni­on on data pro­ce­s­sing in the work envi­ron­ment dated June 8, 2017 (Opi­ni­on 2/2017 on data pro­ce­s­sing at work, WP 249, June 8, 2017.). In it, it descri­bes the Euro­pean legal frame­work under cur­rent law and under the GDPR, and makes recom­men­da­ti­ons for spe­ci­fic pro­ce­s­sing sce­na­ri­os, par­ti­cu­lar­ly when using new tech­no­lo­gies that may have an impact on employees. This applies in par­ti­cu­lar to IT secu­ri­ty tech­no­lo­gies that can lead to moni­to­ring and tech­no­lo­gies in the area of BYOD, wearables/IoT, working time recor­ding, video sur­veil­lan­ce, loca­ti­on recor­ding for field staff, etc.
