Accord­ing to media reports, the Irish data pro­tec­tion aut­ho­ri­ty intends to pro­hi­bit the dis­clo­sure of data from Ire­land to the USA wit­hin the Face­book Group. It is said to have sent a draft of a cor­re­spon­ding deci­si­on to the other Euro­pean data pro­tec­tion aut­ho­ri­ties for com­ment, in the pro­ce­du­re under Art. 60

EU Com­mis­si­on: legi­ti­ma­te inte­rest inclu­des com­mer­cial interests 

Appar­ent­ly, the Dut­ch data pro­tec­tion aut­ho­ri­ty has expres­sed the stan­dard view that the legal basis of legi­ti­ma­te inte­rest does not inclu­de pure­ly com­mer­cial inte­rests. ZH: Con­sul­ta­ti­on on the total revi­si­on of the IDG 

The Can­ton of Zurich regu­la­tes data pro­tec­tion and the right of public access in the Infor­ma­ti­on and Data Pro­tec­tion Act (IDG). The IDG is alrea­dy 15 years old and is now to be com­ple­te­ly revi­sed. Accord­ing to the media release, the total revi­si­on is inten­ded, on the one hand, to make recom­men­da­ti­ons wit­hin the frame­work of the data pro­tec­tion law.
