On September 25, 2020, the two councils approved the Final Vote Text approved in accordance with the proposals of the conciliation conference.

This makes the Legislative project on the revision of the FADP completed. The law is subject to an optional referendum, but a referendum is unlikely.

After the expiry of the 100-day referendum period, the Federal Council will decide on the entry into force (Art. 74 (2) DPA). The revised DPA will probably not enter into force before 2022.

The Association for Corporate Data Protection has written an overview of the key points for the new revision and the need for action. The document can be found here.
