The GDPR enters into force for Liech­ten­stein, Nor­way and Ice­land on July 20, 2018

As the Liech­ten­stein govern­ment with Media release July 6, 2018 published, the EEA Joint Com­mit­tee deci­ded on July 6, 2018 to incor­po­ra­te the GDPR into the EEA Agreement. 

The GDPR will enter into force for Liech­ten­stein, Nor­way and Ice­land on 20 July 2018 and will be direct­ly appli­ca­ble in Liech­ten­stein as of that date. On the same day, tran­si­tio­nal data pro­tec­tion legis­la­ti­on will enter into force in Liech­ten­stein in order to enable the data pro­tec­tion aut­ho­ri­ty (alre­a­dy befo­re the ent­ry into force of the Data Pro­tec­tion Act, which is curr­ent­ly under­go­ing a total revi­si­on) to act on the basis of the new GDPR within the frame­work of the EEA to enable
