Digi­tal Ser­vices Act: final hurd­le cle­ared; DMA published in Offi­ci­al Journal

The Euro­pean Coun­cil has agreed to the Digi­tal Ser­vices Act (DSA; an over­view can be found here) was appro­ved on Octo­ber 4, 2022 (see the Media release of the Coun­cil). Tog­e­ther with the Digi­tal Mar­kets Act (DMA), the DSA forms the new Euro­pean legal frame­work for the regu­la­ti­on of digi­tal ser­vices (see also here). The DSA will now be published in the Offi­ci­al Gazet­te and will be gene­ral­ly appli­ca­ble 15 months later.

For its part, the DMA is on 12 Octo­ber 2022 published in the Offi­ci­al Jour­nal have been made. It will app­ly in part from May 2, 2023, and in other parts on June 25, 2023 (Art. 54 DMA).
