The Art. 29 Working Group publishes the final ver­si­on of the gui­des on data por­ta­bi­li­ty, Data Pro­tec­tion Offi­cers (DPO) and the Lead Super­vi­so­ry Aut­ho­ri­ty of the GDPR.

The Gene­ral Data Pro­tec­tion Regu­la­ti­on is offi­ci­al­ly published on April 27, 2016 been. It will be available from the May 25, 2018 apply.


Update 14 April 2016

The Euro­pean Par­lia­ment adopted the GDPR (Text). It can thus enter into force in May 2018.

The Euro­pean Gene­ral Data Pro­tec­tion Regu­la­ti­on (GDPR) has been available in a final ver­si­on sin­ce the end of 2015. It is part of the data pro­tec­tion reform of the Euro­pean Uni­on. The Com­mis­si­on had pro­po­sed two legal acts on Janu­ary 25, 2012, the GDPR and a Direc­ti­ve on the pro­tec­tion of per­so­nal data pro­ce­s­sed for the pur­po­ses of the pre­ven­ti­on, inve­sti­ga­ti­on, detec­tion or pro­se­cu­ti­on of cri­mi­nal offen­ces and for rela­ted judi­cial acti­vi­ties (Data Pro­tec­tion Poli­cy for Poli­ce and Cri­mi­nal Justi­ce).

As an over­view the cour­se so far:

In Ger­man the­re are so far one Offi­ci­al Ger­man trans­la­ti­on of the uncon­so­li­da­ted text of the agree­ment (see below) and a unof­fi­ci­al trans­la­ti­on of the con­so­li­da­ted ver­si­on is available. The final, offi­ci­al Ger­man ver­si­on is expec­ted in March 2016.

The Par­lia­ment is expec­ted to adopt the agreed text in the first quar­ter of 2016. If the Coun­cil agrees, the GDPR will enter into force 20 days after its publi­ca­ti­on in the Offi­ci­al Jour­nal and will app­ly after a tran­si­ti­on peri­od of two years.
