WLAN stands for wire­less local area net­work. It con­nects com­pu­ters, prin­ters, scan­ners and other devices and usual­ly also enables a con­nec­tion to the Inter­net. The­se devices are con­nec­ted to each other by so-cal­led access points. WLAN is stan­dar­di­zed by the IEEE (802.11 fami­ly, http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11).
