FDPIC – Expl­ana­to­ry notes on data pro­tec­tion in libraries

Libra­ri­es have to pro­cess per­so­nal data so that they can admi­ni­stra­tively hand­le book len­ding. Addi­tio­nal ser­vices, such as the pro­vi­si­on of work­sta­tions with Inter­net access, also gene­ra­te per­so­nal data. This docu­ment explains what libra­ri­es have to con­sider from a data pro­tec­tion per­spec­ti­ve. It focu­ses on user data and per­so­nal data from work­sta­tions with Inter­net access. In addi­ti­on, the spe­cial fea­tures of net­work­ed systems are discussed.
