The EU Par­lia­ment pas­sed a revi­si­on of the e‑Privacy Direc­ti­ve 2002/58/EC at the end of 2009. The aim was to crea­te more trans­pa­ren­cy and secu­ri­ty for con­su­mers. The prac­ti­cal imple­men­ta­ti­on of the new Direc­ti­ve 2009/136/EC in the mem­ber sta­tes is likely to take shape from 2011, which will also have con­se­quen­ces for Switzerland.
