Mobi­le devices are used to coll­ect geo-posi­ti­on data for loca­ti­on-based ser­vices. If this data is stored over a lon­ger peri­od of time, it pro­vi­des a detail­ed move­ment pro­fi­le of the device user. We the­r­e­fo­re ana­ly­zed Apple’s data pro­ce­s­sing as part of a fact-fin­ding inve­sti­ga­ti­on, while Apple its­elf pro­vi­ded an update to its soft­ware that can be used to pre­vent the coll­ec­tion of geo-loca­ti­on data.
