Mobile devices are used to collect geo-position data for location-based services. If this data is stored over a longer period of time, it provides a detailed movement profile of the device user. We therefore analyzed Apple’s data processing as part of a fact-finding investigation, while Apple itself provided an update to its software that can be used to prevent the collection of geo-location data.
