We were asked to comment on two sub-aspects of the “Security in Sport” project. These were primarily the topics “Use of biometrics or facial recognition devices at the entrances to a stadium” and “Linking video recordings in stadiums and biometrics or facial recognition”. The use of facial recognition systems in stadiums is permissible under data protection law if certain conditions are met.
