On April 4, 2023, the FDPIC issued a con­cise state­ment on the “Use of ChatGPT and com­pa­ra­ble AI-sup­port­ed appli­ca­ti­ons”. voi­ced, this pro­ba­b­ly fol­lo­wing the recent open let­ter from a group of influ­en­ti­al tech prot­ago­nists, cal­ling for a mora­to­ri­um on AI systems bey­ond the capa­bi­li­ties of ChatGPT‑4, and fol­lo­wing the Ban on the use of ChatGPT by the Ita­li­an Garan­te.

The FDPIC advi­ses specifically,

  • check befo­re ente­ring text or uploa­ding images for which pur­po­ses they will be edi­ted, and
  • ensu­re data pro­tec­tion when using AI-sup­port­ed appli­ca­ti­ons and, in par­ti­cu­lar, inform users which data are pro­ce­s­sed for which pur­po­ses and in which way.
