On April 4, 2023, the FDPIC issued a concise statement on the “Use of ChatGPT and comparable AI-supported applications”. voiced, this probably following the recent open letter from a group of influential tech protagonists, calling for a moratorium on AI systems beyond the capabilities of ChatGPT‑4, and following the Ban on the use of ChatGPT by the Italian Garante.
The FDPIC advises specifically,
- check before entering text or uploading images for which purposes they will be edited, and
- ensure data protection when using AI-supported applications and, in particular, inform users which data are processed for which purposes and in which way.
