FDPIC – Internet publication of personal data in the context of reporting on public events

In July 2008, the website ch.indymedia.org reported on the Sempach slaughter festival and its participants. In this context, the FDPIC was asked by the media whether reporting in which images of individual identifiable persons are published is permissible from the point of view of data protection law. The FDPIC emphasizes that a balancing of the public information interest and privacy is required here.
