SwissDRG (Swiss Diagnosis Related Groups) is the tariff system that currently determines how inpatient acute-somatic hospital services and inpatient services in maternity hospitals are reimbursed by mandatory health insurance. This tariff system sets the remuneration of services according to diagnosis-related case-based flat rates that are uniform throughout Switzerland. The objectives of the introduction of SwissDRG flat rates per case are, in particular, more transparency and better possibilities for comparing the services of hospitals and birth centers (hereinafter: service providers).
