EDSA: Coordinated Enforcement Framework – Focus on DPOs

The “Coordinated Enforcement Framework” (CEF; coordinated enforcement framework) is a framework for coordinating the activities of supervisory authorities through the European Data Protection Board (EDSA; EDPB). The annual coordinated action focuses on a specific topic at a time and allows the supervisory authorities to pursue this topic within the scope of their competences.

EDSA has now launched a coordinated review of the role of DPOs (Media release). Supervisors are to send questionnaires to DPOs and conduct formal investigations. The results will be evaluated across the board and reported by the EDSA in due course, and may also lead to further action at the national level.
