EU Com­mis­si­on intro­du­ces the EU‑U.S. Pri­va­cy Shield

The Euro­pean Com­mis­si­on today (July 12, 2016) laun­ched the EU‑U.S. Pri­va­cy Shield (Media release).

The EU Com­mis­si­on sub­mit­ted the fol­lo­wing docu­ments on the Pri­va­cy Shield:

• State­ment of Adequacy
• Anne­xes
• Q&A
• Facts­heet

The ade­qua­cy decla­ra­ti­on will be sub­mit­ted to mem­ber sta­tes today and will take effect imme­dia­te­ly the­re­af­ter. U.S. com­pa­nies will be able to self-cer­ti­fy as of August 1, 2016.
