On May 26, 2016, the European Parliament announced in a Press releasethat it is the Motion for a resolution on transatlantic data transfers (2016/2727(RSP)) of May 23, 2016. Accordingly, the following should be improved in the Commission’s proposal on the Privacy Shield:
- U.S. authorities’ access to personal data transferred;
- The consideration of the principles of proportionality and necessity in the collection of data;
- The lack of independence and insufficient powers of the U.S. Ombudsman;
- The overly complex design of the appeals process.
