Syste­ma­tic use of the AHV num­ber by aut­ho­ri­ties to be enabled

The Fede­ral Coun­cil wants to enable broa­der use of the AHV num­ber and, to this end, ope­ned the con­sul­ta­ti­on on Novem­ber 7, 2018, on an amend­ment to the AHV Act (Media release). The con­sul­ta­ti­on will last until Febru­ary 22, 2019.

The con­sul­ta­ti­on draft pro­vi­des that the Con­fe­de­ra­ti­on, can­tons and muni­ci­pa­li­ties may syste­ma­ti­cal­ly use the AHV num­ber within the scope of their sta­tu­to­ry duties. On the other hand, insti­tu­ti­ons that do not have the cha­rac­ter of a public aut­ho­ri­ty and to which the ful­fill­ment of a public task has been assi­gned by law will con­ti­n­ue to requi­re aut­ho­rizati­on under spe­cial legis­la­ti­on. The draft pro­vi­des for tech­ni­cal and orga­nizatio­nal mea­su­res to pro­tect against misuse.
