Total revi­si­on of the FADP: Deli­be­ra­ti­ons on the second stage postponed

The Natio­nal Council’s Sta­te Poli­cy Com­mit­tee (SPK‑N) has post­po­ned its deli­be­ra­ti­ons on the revi­si­on of the Data Pro­tec­tion Act and will not deal with this bill in the cur­rent win­ter quar­ter as ori­gi­nal­ly plan­ned. A dis­cus­sion of this second stage – within the frame­work of the enti­re revi­si­on bill – is now plan­ned for the first quar­ter of 2019. A result from the SPK‑N is expec­ted at the end of Febru­ary 2019. This agen­da item is then sche­du­led for detail­ed dis­cus­sion in the Natio­nal Coun­cil in the spring ses­si­on of 2019 (March 4 – 19, 2019).
