On Sep­tem­ber 12, 2018, the Euro­pean Par­lia­ment appro­ved the Pro­po­sal for a Direc­ti­ve on Copy­right in the Digi­tal Sin­gle Mar­ket was appro­ved by a lar­ge majo­ri­ty. The pro­po­sal is high­ly con­tro­ver­si­al, par­ti­cu­lar­ly becau­se of the upload fil­ters and ancil­la­ry copy­right for press publishers it pro­vi­des for.
