USA: Exe­cu­ti­ve Order on “Safe, Secu­re, and Trust­wor­t­hy Deve­lo­p­ment and Use of Arti­fi­ci­al Intelligence”

On Octo­ber 30, 2023, US Pre­si­dent Biden announ­ced a com­pre­hen­si­ve Exe­cu­ti­ve Order 14110 on the “Safe, Secu­re, and Trust­wor­t­hy Deve­lo­p­ment and Use of Arti­fi­ci­al Intel­li­gence” (see Fact Sheet). The Exe­cu­ti­ve Order is pri­ma­ri­ly appli­ca­ble to the US aut­ho­ri­ties, but is also likely to have an impact on the pri­va­te sector.

Short­ly after sig­ning, the Office of Manage­ment and Bud­get (OMB) issued a Draft imple­men­ta­ti­on gui­de­lines (“OMB Gui­dance”) has been published for consultation.
